Client: Galliard Construction | Value: £12.3 million | Completed March 2022
Kilhan Construction was appointed the Preferred Contractor to deliver a comprehensive package of works at Islington Square, a major redevelopment project on Upper Street in the heart of Islington. Our scope included piling attendance, demolition (with retained façades), groundworks, including basements, reinforced concrete (RC) frames, and all external hard landscaping.
The 4.5-acre site, formerly the North London Mail Centre, has been transformed into a vibrant 500,000 sq ft mixed-use district. The development includes residential apartments, retail units, restaurants, office space, a health club, and a cinema, creating a new destination within London’s N1 postcode.
Kilhan’s package involved various complex structural challenges, including the construction of RC frames within existing buildings, bespoke temporary works solutions, and over 6,000m² of high-quality granite external landscaping. Our technical expertise and collaborative approach ensured precision delivery within the constraints of a live, urban environment.
