Bowback House, Milton Keynes
Client: HG Construction | Value: £9 million Duration: Aug 2022 – July 2023 (Groundworks & RC Frame) Feb 2024 – May 2024
Kilhan Construction was contracted by HG Construction to deliver a complete Groundworks, RC Frame, and External Works package for the redevelopment of Bowback House, the former HMRC site in central Milton Keynes. The project forms part of a 306-unit Build-to-Rent scheme, including 43 affordable homes, 25,500 sq ft of external amenity space, and 10,000 sq ft of internal retail and communal facilities.
The initial phase involved the demolition of the existing structure, followed by groundworks, drainage, and attenuation systems, and the delivery of four reinforced concrete frames ranging from 4 to 14 storeys. As part of the RC package, a full basement footprint and large podium slab were also constructed. Kilhan incorporated the Stairmaster formwork system into the build, enabling safe and efficient vertical access throughout the frame construction.
Following the main build, Kilhan returned to the site in 2024 to complete the external and landscaping works, ensuring the project was delivered to a high standard and aligned with the vision for modern, high-quality urban living in Milton Keynes.
